McCain Obama debate – McCain calls Pak president Asif Ali Gaddari

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

McCain may be the “man from yesterday” but this was sure over the top.

In the presidential debate today, it was alarming to hear Sen. McCain address the Pakistan President as Mr. Asif Ali Gaddari.
I’m sure he didn’t mean it. Of course, the president’s name is not familiar with the Americans, but Sen.McCain should’ve rehearsed the debate well ahead.

As a matter of fact, “Gaddar” in Hindi means “Traitor” – I trust Sen.Mc Cain didn’t really mean it.

New Desktop – HP Pavillion with widescreen monitor – All black !

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Mac is cool, very cool. But for certain things you need a PC. (Sounds like the Mastercard Ad?)

I’ve been doing all my work on the Mac and Toshiba laptop until now, but thought I need more babies. So got hold of this “black beauty” from HP. This guy is solid, stylish all black and very contrasting to the Mac.

HP Pavillion PC

Super cool to run all those design soft, theme testing, playing games and inserting all those data cards and USB’s (It’s got a so called Bay Area where it can hold all those data cards – very cool !).

The monitor is a separate entity – 19 inch widescreen, perfect for all those design work. And also I’ve added a pair of Creative speakers, that too black – Now here is a tiny constellation “all black” and shining. Heh !

If you are an entrepreneur, and if you didn’t know Sramana, you probably would’ve been living in a cave.

An inspiring human being, an expert in her domain, Sramana blogs at www.sramanamitra.com on business consulting, entrepreneurship and strategy.

In Entrepreneur Journeys she has taken on the task of modeling how entrepreneurs transform economies into resilient, growing systems that provide a future for our children.”

Construction workers or gymnasts?

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

This is a view from my apartment to the next building where construction work is going on.

This picture that you see is a view of the 13th floor. Sorry for the vague image but this is the closest I could get. It shows construction workers, without any safety equipment whatsoever, working at odd heights risking their life. They are on the edges, with no safety gear, no protection whatsoever.

Most of these workers are “imported” from Orissa, Bihar etc and are given the scantiest of everything – be it protection, living conditions or wages. There was an unreported incident in one of these buildings where one worker fell down from the heights to lose his life and now you know why.

The recent real estate boom in Cochin, has resulted in unbalanced and dangerous growth in many sectors such as this.

Just got a new Nokia E 71. Been looking for a smart phone for some time and fell for this beauty.
All the technical specification are looking good.

As far as I’m concerned, it helps me check email on the go, view attachments, allows third party applications, helps click good pictures and supports Wifi. And yes, it is pretty quick ! QWERTY keypad is a bit clumsy, but may be..just may be I’ll get used to it. Black metal with pattern finish on the back side – yummy!
